My co-worker asked me to visit her church. So I did. It was
nice, until the pastor told this story: His friend and neighbor got his picture
plastered all over the neighborhood as a sexual predator. He said, instead of
assuming the worst and spreading rumors, his wife went to the assumed and asked
him his side. This story angered me, because do you really think someone is
going to admit they abused, raped, or molested someone? The pastor said he and
his wife are still friends with the accused. They allow him in their house, and
visit him with their children. Should we forgive sexual abusers, predators? Yes,
should we go around them? NO!! This is the same as, like Dr. Kaye would say, hiring a
recovering alcoholic for a liquor store. They will always have the taste of the alcohol.
They will crave it and thirst for it all the days of their lives. Yes, they can
stop drinking for years at a time, and some may be able to be around someone
who drinks, but why set them up for that kind of failure? Isn’t it nicer and safer
to not drink in front of them or offer a drink to a former alcoholic? This is the same for predators.
They may be able to stop themselves for months, years at a time, but eventually
the temptation, hunger, and thirst gets too much for them. It is worse, however,
in my opinion, to be addicted to little children because they are everywhere. Also,
since it is kept in secret, people do not know not to bring their children
around them or near them. They assume the public park, store, etc… is safe,
when a predator could be stalking them. All that pastor is doing is waving his
children under that predator’s nose tempting him to abuse his children. Of
course, because he is ignorant, he doesn’t know that he is doing it. I would
like to tell that pastor the horror stories that I have heard, and that I have
lived through myself. I would like to tell that pastor that they do not post
pictures of people unless they have proof or a jury conviction someone. I
would like to tell that pastor how sexual abuse haunts you, changes you,
depresses you, makes you want to dies, gives you bad decisions, freezes you,
angers you, stops you from being you, and is with you all the days of your
life. Not to mention: ruins your relationships, causes you to lose jobs, makes
you angry all the time, and makes you miss out on life and opportunities. I
myself have not pursued my dreams, because sexual abuse has frozen me to the
point where I fear rejection and ridicule, and I do not feel social acceptance. I thought my
art was garbage, that no one wanted it, that it was no good, and that people would make fun of
it. But thanks to Reclaim, I am slowly getting my self-esteem back to where I
am trying to puruse my dream of being an artist.

I would also like to give
this note to the guy who said we falsely accused Hayward. I do not care if it is your friend, mom, family member, trusted neighbor, quiet person, upstanding citizen, or even the president. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TOUCH, RAPE, MOLEST, OR HURT SOMEONE. As I said, the police have to have proof before they prosecute, register
you as a sexual offender, etc. I DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU CLAIM TO KNOW ABOUT HAYWARD.
YOU WERE NOT THERE! You did not see what happened behind closed doors! You don’t
know the hell those victims are living. You don’t know the mind, cunning, and ways
of an abuser. Just like Dr. Kaye said, you can’t go by how well, how quiet, or how
upstanding someone seems to be, because you are not in their mind, their shoes,
    or in their heart.

  • A Note from Dr. K

This email came to us in ReClaim. When I responded to it, I learned that this man gave us a phony email address. We later discovered that he is associated with the Heyward Family. See his comment below:

I can’t wait until the Heyward case is over with. When it is i wonder what you guys are going to do once he get found not guilty? An simple apology would not work! Did anyone check the so call victim background? If so you would know that the kid was gay so a rape kit really don’t mean anything! Then they say they got phone records of them calling each other! That’s weird because who gets rape and call their attacker? Not enough research was done in this case! This kid was a troubled kid. I know this guy personally and this is not even in his character. All he does is try to help people, and this is what he get in return. I really do think on this particular case, you should really look more at the victim. I was just in hampton county this weekend and really pretty much nobody believe it because they know officer heyward and they know the kid. A lot of the kid own family don’t believe him, and that says a lot.

    • A Note from Dr. K

This was my response to this man’s comments:

Thank you for your comments. If you are not an adult, please do not write to ReClaim Global again.

Unfortunately, what you wrote is totally erroneous, except the part about the unbelievers who are apparently ignorant about how a child molester can live in and among them. We certainly understand how sexual abuse is hard to grasp, especially by individuals who think they “really know” a person. Larry Heyward is a socially competent child molester; meaning he persuaded the adults and many children to like him, all the while he was sexually victimizing other children. (See http://www.reclaimglobal.org for profile of Larry Heyward attached in the original press release.)

The way Heyward moved in and among people is a typical move of a pervert. This modus operandi proves itself weekly in our media when people discover that their neighbor was actually a psychopath, but they say, “I had no idea! He always seemed like such a nice man.” Nice men con people everyday. Child molesters con people every day. Larry Heyward has conned all of you.

There are many, many facts against Heyward in this case that extend far beyond phone records. You are talking to others — and your facts are rumors and guesses. There is actual recorded and forensic evidence against this man. Not all evidence requires a rape kit. I want this town to brace itself when the truth comes out. We believe his victims could rival Sandusky. To those that do not believe it now — will soon learn otherwise — as you said, “…an apology to the victims and their families will not be nearly enough.” It is time to believe.

So far, ReClaim Global has identified 13 to 14 witnesses/victims against Heyward. Another case is expected to be filed within days. We suspect there are countless more.

We were called to Hampton County because people in the community needed our help. Apparently, the ill treatment of numerous victims of sexual violence extends beyond the Heyward cases. We continue to receive emails from your community indicating that this town likes to dismiss reports of sexual abuse and rape. They also tell us that they appreciate our help.

We do not agree, like you’ve implied, that no one believes Heyward is capable of doing these heinous crimes. Your group of naysayers might want to do some additional research. From what we see, ninety percent of this town does believe that Heyward did these horrible crimes. They are willing to stand behind the victims and are asking for the legal authorities to be investigated. ReClaim Global has been in contact with the Governor’s office and with Senator Graham’s office. We are asking for a full investigation.

Then again, even in the Sandusky, Penn State cases—some still choose ignorance over evidence and facts. They convince themselves that people are only after the money train. Sadly, the reality is that these victims and their families could never be compensated enough for what these vile men have done to these children. Fortunately for everyone, neither the attorney nor the family decides the compensation. The jury weighs the facts and they make the final decision. Still, some will refuse to believe the truth even when a jury rules on a case. This is the way it goes when it comes to ignorance about sexual abuse.

Ignorance is the reason ReClaim Global exists. We despise false reports of sexual abuse and are highly skilled to know when someone is lying. It is our belief that Larry Heyward committed these atrocious crimes in your city.

My advice to you is to back off the matter of whether a person is gay or not – and back off immediately. Sexual abuse is sexual abuse period — and no child should have to endure it.

      Thank you for your comments,

    • Anonymous

Just because someone believes something is not true, does not make it not true. They can hear truth and see truth, but sadly still not believe. The news reported that there is recorded evidence. How does one deny that? The phone records may seem weird, but they exist. Even if a child is troubled or even if they are gay, does it make it okay if they are molested? Anyone would be troubled after being manipulated, molested, and abused for over 2 years by a molester like Larry Heyward!

Dear friends — help me not scream.  I can not believe that Heyward got out of jail again — on his second charge of sexual abuse.   He is now charged with the third count.   I was told today that he was released to house arrest, but can still drive to work and go to his attorney.  How can this be possible?  How can they let this man out on the street?
God help us all.  Dr. Kaye

What an amazing thing ReClaim has done is South Carolina standing up for those who were not protected, not watched over and those who feel abandoned and alone.  Someone has to give children a voice and stand up for them when its at times too hard for them to stand up for themselves.  It is a tragedy that children everywhere have to carry the pain, hurt and secret of those who abuse them.  I am proud of the students that came forward and hope that others who have been abused find the courage to tell their abuser’s dirty secret.  These children have NOTHING to be ashamed of.  It is NOT their fault and I know that ReClaim will help them get the help that they need and deserve so they can be freed from the prison of abuse.  Everyone in every town should be on the steps of their homes, schools, and courthouses demanding justice for children everywhere.  No more silent crimes!  Thank you Dr. Kaye and ReClaimers for being a booming voice in silent places.

  • A Note from Dr. K

Another charge was brought up against Heywerd today March 1, 2013, by ReClaim Global!  See press release to be posted soon under IN THE NEWS.
Pray for this community.  Pray for these children.  We want to reach the good people.  I refused to believe there are no good people here.   We just need the good people to come forward, and some of them have begun. The contacts we are getting are amazing.  The sadness we are hearing is heartbreaking.  The atrocities of injustice are incredulous.  Justice will prevail.  Thank you for all of your help.  Dr. K

  • KB

I am so thankful to have been a part of this press conference.  And to know that another victim has come forward, and as a result the perpetrator is behind bars, it is amazing.  I pray the rest will feel safe to come forward as well, and that each one will receive the healing they need.  To the children and their families who have come forward, thank you–you are working to stop this from happening to other children.  And to the boy who first came forward–your courage is beautiful–you truly are a hero, and I am so proud of you.

I had to be a part of this and clear my schedule for this date! These children were worth the sacrifice! I am so thankful that there is someone that cares for our children and the stance against sexual abuse will be alive in all of us, because we will never forget this day! I understand that some people may not be able to attend these events for whatever reason. However, I would encourage more husbands and men to be involved in this endeavor! Our wives and children have benefited from ReClaim Global because this woman’s ability to get in the trenches and vindicate them and strategically help them see how they were innocent. I have never witnessed such a profound breakthrough by any one person’s ability to heal individuals from sexual abuse!! This woman stands apart from any other program out there, because she is truly equipped! Ly Dr Kaye!

  • Ms. ‘P’

I was so thankful to be a part of the press conference on Monday.  I want all of Hampton County and the world, for that matter, to know that we care and that we will no longer tolerate having our children sexually abused by the very people who are trusted with their care, protection and nurturing.  If some have lost their voices, RECLAIM GLOBAL will be a voice for them.

I think there was a great turn out for our press confernce. DK was gentle, yet to the point; like we know her to be. People were driving past us as we marched, and beeped at us, saying; “thank you. what your doing is awsome, and thank you for coming here.” I was touched to see how many people wanted to expose the sickness that is in their city, our city, and sadly.. the world. I saw people watching us upstairs, and outside the court house door. I think people were surprised at how many people came, and that strangers care about a city they never heard or visted before. I think we showed what Reclaim is all about: HELPING SEXUALLY ABUSED PEOPLE. No matter where they live. I think we exposed this sickness to, not only our city, but other cities as well. Reclaimers have been sharing the newsfeed of our viist on FB. The newcasters said that DK made serious accusations against that man (not sure if I should say his name). No, we have proof.. a child’s word. Children do not lie, make up, or fanatisze about sexual abuse. we remember what we see, hear, smell, was wearing, and all the details of our secual abuse. DK says its like it forever ingrained on our minds. We often relive it over and over again. People should think: what would gain by making this up? people think we lie, are abuser threathen us to keep quiet, and our families refuse to talk about it. So, why would we lose: our families’ love and our reputation for a lie? This is espiecally true for adults, who do not tell anyone until they come to Reclaim. I am happy and proud that I was apart of the press confernce monday. Totally worth standing in rain, being cold, and driving for 3 hrs. Juts a momet of discomfort, for the safety of children!!!!

Thanks to all the wonderful caring people of Hampton.  You have a voice and you spoke out: Sexual Abuse of any kind is Not Ok.  Thank you for braving the weather to show how much you care about your children and your community.

    The World is Watching…

  • K Jones

I am so thankful to see the ReClaim Global has stepped up to the plate and has become a voice for those that feel as though they have no voice. No more silent crimes. This organization is bolding going where most people don’t want to go. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!

  • GirlyChef

We did it! SC knows that RG cares for them! Dr. Kaye was direct and on point! She hit the heart spot of the community! We helped people  and, they were given hope and confidence to fight for their children! It was a great press conference!

    • Anonymous

Yes it was! I am so thankful for the good people of this county that attended. I noticed inside the court room there were so many people touched by what was happening. We have to speak up for the children and let them know that we care and want to protect them. I love how Dr Kaye’s speech breath the love of God for the precious little ones. Now I just pray that the good people of this community coalesce to come against this implacable crime to put a stop to it. Evil prevails when good men do nothing. She not only addressed this issue but also educated and admonished the community to take action, because these are our kids, our future! If our children walk around broken, what does that say about the future of our country?

    • Ms. ‘P’

You are right GirlyChef!! Dr. Kaye with bold and straight forward, while at the same time, loving and compassionate enough to let the people of Hampton County know that WE, RECLAIM GLOBAL, DO CARE.

  • KB

I think of how helpless and lonely the victims and their families have been feeling–and I am so excited about the impact this press conference will have on them–knowing that there is a busload of people who see, and who care, and who will NOT look the other way.  I am believing that this press conference will be publicized more widely than anyone thought possible, and that every person in Hampton that is experiencing, has experienced or knows of someone who is or has experienced sexual abuse will have the courage to come forward immediately upon hearing Dr. Kaye speak.  Dr. Kaye’s love for these victims will be evident, as it always is, and lives and generations will be forever changed because of her work!

  • Ms. ‘P’

I recently had a conversation with my oldest brother, who knew nothing of my childhood abuse.  He went on our website and read my story.  He was immediately able to identify and state the name of the neighbor who exposed himself to me.  He said this neighbor had a ‘reputation’ for being ‘weird’, yet no one spoke out, no one did or said anything.  We cannot, we MUST NOT allow these silent crimes to continue. WE HAVE A VOICE WE MUST BE BOLD!

  • Anonymous

I am thankful for this program. We can not keep sexual abuse silent any longer. I had to let go of my fears and share my story. My life will never be the same again.  This program has helped me tremendously. I pray that women and men all over the world will hear of this program, get involved in it and allow themselves to become free again.

Thank you Dr. Kaye for this program………

  • A Note from Dr. K

    My dear ReClaimers:
Like I say frequently, we must weep for ourselves and weep for others.  The emails I’m getting from others who were sexually abused in Hampton, County is astonishing.  My concern is that no one appears to be doing much about these horrible crimes.  My greatest concern is the child, the victim, but when the adult, the parent, the sister, has no one to go for help it is double tragedy.  God help us all.

    • Anonymous

As I read your comment, the ReClaim song came to mind. We are no longer blind, we have opened our eyes, Dr Kaye and ReClaimers, they are the signs of the time! May we stay committed to this mission and support this movement!

I am so proud of all of you Reclaimers and humbled by the work of Dr.Kaye M. Smith. A wise man once said
“…a part of all of us is changeless and beyond the reach of storms.” That is what I think about when I read the stories of these women who are no longer silent…that part of you that is changeless and beyond the reach of even sexual abuse. My prayers are with you all as you carry out your plan in South Carolina.
“When good men do nothing, evil prevails”- I am so glad that the “good men/women” are moving to bring the darkness into the light. They cannot dwell in the same place. Dietrice, I am in awe.

I am the proud husband of a ReClaimer.  My wife attended one of the conferences and is forever changed.  She had spent years of her life believing that she had put the sexual abuse she had encountered behind her, but soon realized during the conference that she still carried much of the hurt and shame from the abuse.  I am so thankful for Dr. Kaye Smith and her dedicated team for what they have done and continue to do to bring this ugly and senseless issue into the light.  As long as it stays in the dark, it will continue to spread like a cancer and ultimately steal, kill and destroy the lives of generations to come.  The time to strike is now and my wife and I are supporting Dr. Kaye and the ReClaim Global initiative 100%!!

  • Anonymous

ReClaim gives victims a voice to report, speak about and respond to the evil and dark abuse that has happened to them.  Many times, we do not know what to say or do when we have been violated.  We can feel helpless.  Not only does ReClaim stand up for and give victims a voice …. ReClaim IS the voice for victims of sexual abuse! No more silent crimes!  No more silent children!

  • Anonymous

Let me start by saying that Dr. Kaye is an amazing woman, who is bringing justice and healing into victims’ lives. If not for her passion, many, many innocent people would remain silenced and broken. I fully support the movement, which is ReClaim Global. I will be in South Carolina to stand up, to speak out.

  • Anonymous

I went most of my life feeling no one understood what I went through. Within the recent years I found ReClaim and I have found myself, my value and have been vindicated because they, ReClaim, not only speak up for those who have been and are being abused, but have taught me that I have a voice!! I fully stand with ReClaim and their work. I was appalled at what happened in SC and am proud to stand up with ReClaim as they go forward to vindicate more victims.

  • Anonymous

Excitement is in our household about going to the press conference in SC.  We are 100% on board to advocate for victims of sexual abuse.  I have taken a stand to speak out about No More Silent Crimes, No More Silent Children.  This is our way of supporting ReClaim Global’s efforts in spreading the word on protecting our children.
The numbers are growing tremendously every minute, every second.  We can’t continue to turn our heads and say “at least it’s not my child” and “that’s a shame” and do NOTHING.  I pray that this conference will be light on the darkness that exist and encourage others to speak up if they are being abused.  Dr. Kaye has our full support!!

When I first heard this I was “How could this be? No way could this because I know (or thought I knew) Larry! He was a person I thought a lot of. I trusted him and asked him to keep a eye out on my girls. ” Man I have been sick on my stomach about this and how I trusted him. I have a problem with trusting people all my life and I really trusted him. He was always polite well groom and seem like a real great guy. I have lost sleep over this thinking how could I be so blind and SO Glad he didn’t touch my girls , because I would have blamed myself for trusting him. I asked him to keep an eye out for them, I would freak out on someone if they were to hurt them like what I have been hearing as been done. I am sorry to the Family of the victim because I was one who could not believe he could have done this.

Estill is a good place to live even if the Schools are needing improvement, there are a lot of good people. I hate to hear that this has happen here.

    • A Note from Dr. K

Hi, my new friend, in S.C.
I certainly know how facing the reality of sexual abuse can be so hard.  I’m truly saddened about sexual abuse everywhere.  You sound like a caring mom — but know this — if what happened at this school happened to your children (god forbid) it certainly would not be your fault.  When we entrust someone to care for our children, you have a right to expect them to be protected.
Predators are sophisticated — but, I just can’t grasp how this man got away with this for two-years.  Surely, someone could have been minding this store better.  This is why we are coming — to help the good people in this community, and I know there are good teacher’s, sheriff officers, families and parents — I want them to stand up and speak out and help to find ways so that abuse never, ever happens again. We must help each other.   God bless you,
      Dr. Kaye Smith

When I first heard about what happened in S.C I was floored!  How in the world can our society be so numb to what is happening around us.  How can one sit to the side and not feel like they need to stand up and speak out about what is happening.  Then I heard about Dr.Kaye and what she will be doing in S.C.  I am so happy to know that she is around to be that voice of reasoning that too many have forgotten about.  I am thankful to hear that someone cares.  I have to be there to support and show that she is not alone in this.  The Reclaimers will be there to show that SOMEONE CARES!   Thank you Dr.Kaye and the RECLAIMERS for bring a voice to the voiceless.

South Carolina here we come!!!! A voice for the voiceless!! I am proud to say I will be joining other Reclaimers in support of the victims of this sick pedophile. I have an expectation that in doing this, more victims will come forward and not let shame or fear get the best of them. The shame is on the perpetrator that committed this heinous crime!! Also, we have to educate or educators, our leaders, and the people who are supposed to be protecting our children! We cannot turn our heads. This is not a situation to be covered up! If this was a perpetrator with a gun everyone would be lending their support, this type of violence can not be allowed either!! South Carolina we support you and are here to help you gain your own voice and the woman to lead this momentum is Dr. Kaye!

  • GirlyChef

I cannot begin to say how excited I am about going to S.C. I am excited because we will be a voice for the voiceless!  I am also excited because I know how wonderful Dr. Kaye is and how we as ReClaimers, jump at an opportunity to stand up for injustice! Sadly, just like this case, so many voices are yet to be spoken!  I am sickened to my core at the  thought of our communities, neighbors, and family members  that protect these sick vile people! We must protect our children! We must do all that we can to eradicate this evil in our world.

    • A Note from Dr. K

I couldn’t agree more! Well said.

    • A Note from Dr. K

You are so right.  We must eradicate this evil.  Gosh my heart tears every time a child is abused…my heart seems to cry all the time.

This case in S.C is just an example of how we continue to look the other way and do nothing. These are our innocent children, but society continue to defend the perp. My heart goes out to everyone involved because this is terrible. However, I was relieved to learn that Dr Kaye is involved. She is the best of the best! She has a heart for justice and a heart for children. I have witnessed her literally pull grown women out of the trenches of their dark childhood past, and put them on a path to reclaiming their life. Her skills and wisdom is unmatched! I support her 100%.

    • http://www.facebook.com/dawn.archer.75 Dawn Archer

I so agree with your katrinawill these are innocent children and they are counting on the adults to take care of them…to fight for them. I am so happy that Dr. Kaye has taken up this mantle to fight for this injustice!

  • A Note from Dr. K

    Dear ReClaimers –

This case in S.C. is the classic case where no one was watching the children.  Keep in mind that the county, teachers and community is full of many great people.  Somehow all of these children fell through the cracks.  My heart is that this case can become the model for others to follow so that no one ever gets caught off guard again.  Pray for this community.  We will go in peace.  Dr. Kaye

    • http://www.facebook.com/dawn.archer.75 Dawn Archer

This should get national attention. We can not sit and allow this pandemic to happen anymore. Countless children are being robbed of there lives. It has got to stop!
